The Bridge Engineering CADD Manager works in a dynamic collaborative environment, leading Bridge Engineering Technicians in producing a variety of bridge and structural projects under the supervision of the Team Leader. Job location is 811 Barton Springs, Austin, TX, 78704.


  • Lead development of structural details and plan sheets from sketches, written, and verbal instruction in support of various Transportation and Infrastructure projects including Bridge, Retaining Walls, Drainage, and Facilities projects.
  • Prepare quantities and develop geometry calculations.
  • Assemble, develop and modify standards for use on projects.
  • Provide CADD guidance to lesser experienced staff.
  • Check QA/QC sheets produced by others.
  • Evaluate and choose software updates, additions, improvements and training for CADD tools.
  • Establish plans protocol, file structure and instruct draftsmen in proper procedures for each project.
  • Encourage efficient, accurate work to keep within project budgets.


  • Technical degree or certification in drafting and design desired.
  • Fifteen years’ experience, with 12 Years TxDOT Bridge detailing experience.
  • Demonstrable proficiency with Bentley MicroStation (SelectSeries), and professional experience with the software in a full-time production capacity, as well as knowledge of engineering standards, procedures and file management.
  • Recent TxDOT Bridge detailing experience in a professional full-time capacity.


  • Career minded, proactive, critical thinking problem solver with a desire to grow professionally as we continue to grow our company.
  • Proficient Bentley Microstation user, very knowledgeable about the software.
  • Working knowledge of Bentley GEOPAK, OpenRoads and OpenBridge Modeler and 3D Design in ProjectWise Environments.
  • Goal oriented with excellent communication skills, able to work independently and in close collaboration with engineers and other technical staff to deliver project plans.
  • Team player able to maintain a positive attitude and willing to help others with CADD support or with non-CADD tasks.
  • Passion for all types of bridge engineering.
